If common sense prevailed, there would be fewer academic, social and behavior problems within our schools today. This does not appear to be the case as uncommon sense, apparently, is in great demand. This "uncommon sense" approach is pro-active and focuses on the success of all children in school. Beliefs and mechanisms regarding the historical schooling of children, along with some post 9/11 issues, are challenged with new ideas, thoughts and questions. Presented in a diary-like format, this book invites the reader into an intimate exploration of personal and professional growth - all with the best interests of children in mind and heart.
"Clearly and supportively written, this book offers a wealth of exciting new opportunities for improvement in our schools. Whether you are a teacher, a parent or someone who works in a school, this innovative book will gently nudge you into thinking differently. Uncommon Sense is uncommonly good."
- Ellen Tanner Marsh, New York Times Bestselling Author.
Uncommon Sense Children and School eBook David M Willson
Policies and regulations require our schools to develop parent/school compacts that promise a cooperative relationship based on trust. This trust between home and school can be strained due to challenging student behaviors and needs. In many cases the parent/school compact must be more than "I promise to get my child to school ready to learn" or "I believe all students can learn." How then do parents and schools deliver the promises of such compacts?David Wilson's Uncommon Sense: Children & School is one great answer for developing real parent/school relationships. I strongly recommend this book for school staff training and parent workshops as a part of a school's parent involvement policy. Because of the self-reflective design that does not shy away from the most challenging topics, Wilson's Uncommon Sense has the power to redefine broadly stated parent involvement policies into targeted parent and school involvement practice. I only want to know one more thing. Is David Wilson available for professional development conferences?
